Minister, Rissho Kosei-kai Buddhist Center of Los Angeles
In Rissho Kosei-kai Buddhism, attending various parades in your home sangha or others is one of the most spiritually fulfilling practices. Rev. Lee of RK San Francisco kindly invited RKLA members to attend their San Francisco city-wide parade this year (just as every year) to represent our Buddhist tradition. Through attending this weekend, you do not only learn how to use parade instruments and tools, you meet with new people, offer your kindness to others, receive care from others, creating a special dhrama friendship with everyone including children. Please talk to a dharma teacher or other leaders for details as they know much more about this than me, but here are a couple of pictures that give you a sense of what may be expected to happen during the weekend.
Rough Schedule
4/18, Saturdy, 10AM Welcoming & Practice Starts (All meals included - Let us make a sincere donatoin to RKSF) until early evening
4/19, Sunday, 10AM Practice & Preparation; 1-3PM Parade; returning to RKSF and dinner ending around 5PM.
*Some people arrive RKSF before noon on 4/18, Saturday. And it is okay if arriving at Friday is difficult for your schedule.
This year, I will be driving my car with my family and staying at a nearby Park Pointe Hotel from Friday through Sunday. You are welcome to stay in the same hotel or anywhere. If shared room is okay, you can make a request to RKSF. If you use a train or fly in, I will be happy to shuttle you between SFO airport and RKSF (1031 Valencia Way, Pacifica, CA 94044) My car can sit 6 more people and 1 driver.
Application deadline is 3/31, 2026. If you decide to participate, pls fill out the form below and inform us by sending a text to me (3234237876) or an email to info@rklabuddhistcenter.com
RKSF is locared in south of San Francisco, Pacifica, in the midst of beautiful nature
The parade itself continues for 45 minutes to 1 hour. This is where we practice kindness and support for each other through representing our Buddhist tradition in the city's parade.
