What Happens in Sunday Service?

On January 5, 2025, we gathered for the first Sunday service of the year. We started with Rev. Kyohei's explanation of the spiritual meaning of the practice of the sutra recitation. He said, "We will do a recitation as a group. But for each one of us, the time for the sutra recitation we are going to do is a personal time of reflection and meditation created by the space between you and the buddha."

After the recitation, Rev. Ken shared his refleciton of the beginning of 2025, starting our reflective group sharing practice called hoza. In that day where 15 of us were reunited after the Christmas break, we also directed our close attentions to passages of KYOTEN (a collection of excerpts from the Threefold Lotus Sutra) and discussed practical topics such as what it means to be respectful of other and the meaning of the Buddha showing his or her absence according to the passages of the Lotus Sutra.

Thank you many folks for your vibrant and compassionate presence there!
